Here's What You Do When Your Instructor Gets Mad At You...
I’m sure everyone will have a different response every time an instructor gets upset with them.
Some respond beautifully and don’t take it personally and step their game up bigtime.
Others shut down and is completely convinced that their instructor absolutely hates them.
For me personally, as an instructor, I try to control my emotions and try not to get too upset or angry at students…even if they deserve it sometimes lol
However, I know that it does happen from time to time and while it’s not ideal, I remind myself that I’m human and it’s ok to get upset sometimes if students simply aren’t listening, not responding well to instruction or even if they engage in the occasional misguided young person type behaviors.
That being said, how should you respond if an instructor gets upset with you, gets frustrated with you or even raises their voice at you from time to time?
First of all, don’t take it personal.
For the most part, instructors do their absolute best to be professional and give their best effort to teach you how to drum without getting too emotional one way or the other.
But instructors are human and they get frustrated too, especially if they’re working hard to help you realize your potential.
Besides, instructors become INVESTED in your progress! So of course they might get upset from time to time when you don’t meet certain expectations.
Just do your best to step it up, apply an instructor’s constructive criticism and continue to improve every day no matter what!
What do you think? If you’re an instructor, do you get upset from time to time? What were the circumstances and how did you express that anger if at all?
If you’re a student, how do you respond anytime an instructor gets upset with you?
