The Most Underappreciated People In The Marching Arts Are...
The most underappreciated people in the Marching Arts are your Parents…by far!
Look, first of all, for the most part, without your Parents, you wouldn’t be able to be involved in the Marching Arts.
Let’s just go back to the beginning when you were young and you wanted to start learning how to play drums.
Well, your parents definitely had to give their blessing in order for you to sign up for a class…sometimes they have to pay for it.
If you went deep into the activity, they might drive you to practices, get involved with your booster club, create props for your show, acted as chaperones, paid for lessons, paid for your instruments or rental fees and even watched you from the stands.
Even if they didn’t do any of those things, if they gave you words of encouragement or support in any way, then you owe them your gratitude because they’re basically your first and your biggest fans.
If you go on to do great things in the activity, like march drum corps, get paid to play/teach music or even find great success in the outside world because of your involvement in the Marching Arts, then you owe it to your parents for being there for you in the beginning.
Have you thanked your parents for your involvement in the Marching Arts? Have you thanked them enough? If you haven’t…do that right now…I’m serious…call them, text them, email them, send a Raven…whatever. Thank your parents…seriously!
