Want to Know The Secret to Dealing with Unnecessary Pressure when Drumming?
So back in March, I had the opportunity to meet up with the amazing Amanda Muse!
For those of you who do not know her, she is a snare drummer and has grown quite the social media following from the content she creates and posts on her social media accounts.
During the time I met with Amanda, she shared the three most important ideas that helped her get to where she is today!
Those three things are to learn your rudiments and never get bored with rudiments. Everything we play and perform is based around rudiments. How your hands move and achieve the sound you want is connected to all rudiments.
The second is to be patient with yourself. Patience is the main thing where musicians that perform at high levels gained their skills. Amanda did not drum the way she does now 5 years ago, and I would say the same goes for me as well!
There is more progress within patience :)
The third idea is paying attention to technique and fundamentals in everything you play, such as rudiments! See how that connects to the first idea? ;) Technique creates the guidelines that will allow you to achieve rudiments.
Lastly, she shared with me how she has dealt with unnecessary pressure while drumming. This message is especially for female drummers, but is applicable to everyone as well!
“Don’t feel a need to have to prove yourself because you’re a girl. Try and be the best you can be because you love it.” -Amanda Muse
